Catherine A. Melquist Senior Vice President, Sage Communications - Satellite Division Catherine Melquist is senior vice president of the satellite division of Sage Communications, bringing over 20 years of industry experience to the company’s space clients. She has held a number of leadership positions in market development strategy, product management and marketing at multiple satellite communications companies.
Before joining Sage in 2015, Catherine served as vice president of market development at MTN Government, a division of MTN Communications. She led a number of key business development initiatives and assembled the company’s Government Advisory Committee, designed to guide MTN’s corporate strategy of delivering secure communications to government customers.
Previously, Catherine was director of business intelligence and marketing for Airbus Defence’s Astrium Services Government unit – formed from the 2011 acquisition of satellite communications provider Vizada. Catherine led rebranding efforts to help reposition the company as a provider of managed fixed satellite services and launched its new portfolio of machine-to-machine (M2M) data services.
Prior, Catherine led global and regional strategic marketing, channel development efforts and product development at Vizada. This was a continuation of her role of director of strategic initiatives and marketing at Telenor Satellite Services, a Norwegian telecommunications company from which Vizada was formed in 2007. Catherine has also held product marketing and management positions for Lockheed Martin’s Global Telecommunications division and Comsat before that.
Catherine is the newly elected president of the Mobile Satellite User’s Association and held memberships at the Satellite Industry Association, the Society of Satellite Professionals International, the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association, the Washington Space Business Roundtable and Women in Technology. She holds an MBA in international marketing from the American University and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California at Santa Barbara.
