WHAT IS THE MSUA?The Mobile Satellite Users Association (MSUA) was established in 1992 as a non-profit association to promote the interests of users of mobile satellite communications worldwide. It fosters effective communication among Mobile Satellite Services (MSS) users, suppliers of equipment and services, operators of the satellite systems, and the various governmental entities that may affect the future of the industry. Membership is not limited to USA entities, and is open to organizations worldwide engaged in any of these activities. |
|
Nine commercial mobile satellite communications systems are currently operating either regionally or globally. Scores of companies provide value-added MSS using these facilities. The industry serves some half a million users (subscribers) worldwide. Over a dozen companies are in various stages of implementing new mobile satellite communications systems. The industry is poised for explosive growth, measured both in subscriber numbers and in service revenues. All the more reason for MSUA!
If your organization is an MSS user or supplier; if your business requires analytical information on the various systems; if system operators or appropriate governmental entities should be responsive to user concerns; then join the Mobile Satellite Users Association.
The MSUA also has an individual end user membership category that allows end users to participate in the leading industry association.
In pursuing its mission, MSUA informs its membership on issues that affect them, and conveys members' views on such issues to appropriate authorities. Specifically, the Association:
1. reviews, reports, and analyzes the activities of all MSS providers; 2. reports on those executive and legislative activities of governments that affect mobile satellite communication and navigation services; 3. provides a means of aggregating MSS users' views on any system or service concerns; 4. conveys members' concerns to appropriate authorities, and seeks their favourable consideration; and 5. cooperates with counterpart associations.

Newsletters: Published at regular intervals, the MSUA Newsletter is the
principal form of communication with members. The Newsletter offers timely news and
in-depth analysis, not available elsewhere, of MSS markets and issues.

|
Web Site: The Association maintains a web site on the Internet World
Wide Web ( www.msua.org ). When developed further, the
web site will publicize MSUA activities and provide, to members only, information and
analyses that enhance their business opportunities.
|
Document Distribution and Research: Members seeking documents that
address MSS issues can order them from the Association for the cost of duplication and
mailing. A plain-text summary of the document prepared by the MSUA staff will be included.
In addition, the staff will provide, within reasonable bounds, research on particular
issues for individual members.
|
Special Committees: Members collaborate on committees to address
special issues of interest. Two special committees have been established, one to address
MSS policy issues, and the other to review issues of membership and dues structure.
|
Meetings and Conferences: Twice each year, members meet informally with key MSS business leaders for in-depth discussions on issues of common interest. In addition, MSUA sponsors conferences, symposia, and fora on relevant topics, contributes to the proceedings, and secures concessions for members wishing to attend. |
With input from MSUA members, the Association supports increased competition and removal of barriers in regulatory fora around the world.
MSUA sponsors meetings and conferences on relevant topics including our annual Conference and Exhibition. Follow this link for more conference information.
